BOSTON, Nov. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Boston Celtics and Old Mutual Asset Management (OMAM) teamed up to provide hot and healthy meals to women and children in need at Rosie's Place today. The meals were prepared by members of the Celtics and Old Mutual employees, and served by Celtics President, Rich Gotham, Celtics Player, Avery Bradley, and Old Mutual Executives, Linda Gibson and Chris Hadley.
"Our partnership with Old Mutual has been tremendous. Our organizations share a common mission to give back to the community, especially to families who need an extra hand around the holidays," Rich Gotham said. "Providing assistance to these Boston families at this time of year strengthens the meaning of the holidays for all of us."
The event Monday kicked off a week-long volunteer effort that includes Old Mutual and Celtics employees serving meals at Rosie's Place daily. Both companies also are holding food drives throughout the week and hope to collect 4,000 non-perishable food items to be donated. This is the third year that Old Mutual and the Celtics have teamed up to work with Rosie's Place.
"Old Mutual makes it a priority to support Boston's needy and vulnerable citizens throughout the year, including the women and children served by Rosie's Place. It's a timely reminder that helping one another is the foundation to building a community. Our continued partnership with the Celtics and Rosie's Place during the holiday season reinforces the tremendous power of sharing and giving back," said Gibson.
