Boston area's first ever High Impact Social Entrepreneurship Boot Camp launched this week at Wheaton College's Summer Institute for Social Entrepreneurship!
NORTON, Mass., June 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- "Not waiting for a job to show up, our college students are working right now to Make Meaning and Make Money," said Professor Mike Caslin, GCSEN Foundation.
Professor Mike Caslin and his world-class team of entrepreneurs and educators from Global Center for Social Entrepreneurship Network (GCSEN) (www.GCSEN.com) launched a national pilot program partnership with Wheaton College and its rigorous High Impact Social Entrepreneurship (HISE) Boot Camp this week of June 5 - June 10th.
The boot camp is underway at the Mars Center for Science and Technology at Wheaton College and sponsored by the ingenious philanthropy of The Diana Davis Spencer Foundation with the visionary leadership of President Dennis Hanno, and Wheaton College's innovative Summer Institute for Social Entrepreneurship (SISE). GCSEN's HISE Boot Camp selected (15) outstanding Wheaton students to focus them on how they can practically apply the ideas of Triple Bottom Line Social Entrepreneurship, advanced MBA concepts, Sustainable Community and Local Economy Practices. GCSEN promotes organizations such as The New World Foundation, Local Economy Project and BALLE. Students learn to use leading edge technologies and tools, unleashing the Millennial Spirit of Enterprise. These ideas are based on the transformative work of George Gilder, Jack Stack, Guy and Simon Sinek. Throughout the Boot Camp, students experience highly rigorous MBA level concepts honed by Professor Mike Caslin's Babson College's Olin Graduate School of Business MBA concentration in Entrepreneurship. These talented students will work throughout the month of June with scholarships for room, board and tuition valued at $8,000 each. Their return on investment (ROI) is to create businesses driven towards 2036 that – as both for-profit and non-profits – will transform the world.
While the White House and Presidential candidates Clinton, Sanders and Trump, as well as news outlets: Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, Huffington Post, Daily Beast, Breitbart, and Drudge are chambers of words "debating" on what to do, GCSEN's HISE students are leading the country forward in the "doing". We can expect a Millennial driven US economy by 2020, and with a global economy trending right now, GCSEN looks forward to accelerating Social Entrepreneurship on college campuses for years to come.
Social entrepreneurship is based on the idea that you can make meaning, while also making money.
