WINNIPEG, Alberta, Oct. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Booth UC and global cyber education leader Cybint, a BARBRI company, reiterated their collective commitment to bolstering cybersecurity expertise with an important awareness session for area businesses and the official launch of Booth's new online cyber literacy training courses.
Area businesses as well as other interested members of the public were invited to Preventing Digital Doomsday, a keynote address by Cybint CEO and global cyber expert, Roy Zur. The session included relevant information and practices on how organizations – and individuals – can increase their cybersecurity awareness, improve online security practices and uncover the value of the web through enhanced online research skills. In addition, Zur took his audience on a quick tour of the Dark Web. Participants received professional development certification.
Booth's new cyber literacy offerings, which have already attracted a number of students, were developed by cyber educational and military experts. The courses are relevant for anyone, anywhere, including the public, students and professionals who are hoping to stay ahead of the growing trend in cybercrime.
Cyber has become a ubiquitous and important component in non-technological fields of study such as business, law, criminal justice, finance and others. Using a unique "micro-learning" concept for maximum retention, and self-paced, interactive modules, Cybint's courses offer a comprehensive overview of cybercrimes, covering terminology, best practices to protect against cyber threats, unique online search and analysis techniques, and methods to uncover hidden data and recover deleted data from around the web.
Angela Davis, associate professor and chair of the business program at Booth UC, said, "We are excited to go live with our cyber literacy offerings that will educate professionals on the issues surrounding cybersecurity and give them a base of training that will help them be successful in protecting their companies from the threat of cybercrime. The cyber literacy offering goes hand in hand with our financial crimes major in the BBA program, and helps us meet our commitment of delivering relevant and valuable training and education resources to students, professionals and the community at large."
"Partnering with a market leader such as Booth University College is in keeping with our mission of raising the collective level of cyber expertise around the globe," said Zur. "Our cyber literacy courses provide training at both the individual and managerial level – extending the network of cyber expertise to add value in any professional or business environment."
