Boosting Financial Literacy: KPMG Honored By Junior Achievement USA For Donating More Than 15,000 Volunteer Hours
KPMG Earns U.S. President's Volunteer Service Award for Its Stewardship
NEW YORK, March 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- KPMG LLP partners and professionals are passionate about making a tangible difference in the communities where they live and work as demonstrated by the more than 15,000 hours of time donated in the 2016-2017 school year to support Junior Achievement USA (JA) programs that provide innovative, hands-on work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy education.
"Giving back by using our time, talent, and resources to support lifelong learning initiatives such as JA's fantastic programming is how our extraordinary people are helping address issues like illiteracy and unemployment," said Rob Arning, Chairman, KPMG Foundation. "We are proud to team with Junior Achievement to cultivate financial literacy of middle and high school students and look forward to continuing our support of these important programs that help position our nation's young people for future success."
In recognition of KPMG's commitment to empowering next-generation leaders through lifelong learning, JA has again awarded KPMG with the U.S. President's Volunteer Service Award, achieving "Gold Level" status.
In 2003, President George W. Bush established the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation (the Council) to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers make in communities and to encourage more people to serve. The Council created the President's Volunteer Service Award program as a way to thank and honor individuals who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.
In 2006, Junior Achievement became an official certifying organization for this award, which recognizes corporations with a U.S. presence that provide volunteers who teach JA programs anywhere in the world.
