Metro Detroit's Biggest & Best Used Book Sale Marks 10 Years of Supporting the Need to Read!

LIVONIA, Mich., April 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Bookstock is back, celebrating ten years of supporting the need to read! Metro Detroit's largest used book and media sale, where all proceeds benefit literacy and education projects in metropolitan Detroit, will be held Sunday, April 22-29 at Livonia's Laurel Park Place. The Detroit News columnist Neal Rubin and Detroit Free Press columnist Rochelle Riley are Honorary Co-Chairs of Bookstock.
Bookstock's Pre-Sale will kick-off on Sunday, April 22 at 8:15 a.m. with a performance by the Wayne State University Gospel Chorale. There is a $10 admission charge for the Pre-Sale only, which runs through 11a.m. and offers savvy shoppers and collectors first crack at Bookstock's treasure trove of bargains. A true book lover's paradise, Bookstock has over 100,000 donated used books, DVDs, CDs, books on tape, magazines and records for sale at bargain basement prices. The sale will continue through Sunday, April 29, running Sundays, 11 am - 6 p.m. and Monday–Saturday 10 a.m.–9 p.m. Books will be sold for half-price on Sunday, April 29, the last day of the sale.
Bookstock has generated over $655,000 for literacy and education programs throughout Oakland County and Detroit over the past nine years. More than 700 volunteers work together throughout the year to organize and staff the weeklong Bookstock sale. Bookstock has also established the Bookstock Scholar Awards, which are given to outstanding library science students at Wayne State University. In 2011, Bookstock joined with corporate partners Gardner White Furniture and Wallside Windows to present the first three $2,000 awards.
