MANCHESTER, England, December 6, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Coronation Street bookie Peter Barlow has been the subject of some big bets himself to be killed off in this week's tram disaster on the long-running soap opera.
Betfred, the world's biggest independent bookmaker, have cut Barlow's odds to die when the tram crashes into the Kabin newsagent's shop to 10/3 from 10/1 following strong support.
Molly Dobbs and Ashley Peacock are rated certainties to be among the anticipated cull at 1/50 and 1/16 respectively, while Charlotte Hoyle is 2/9 even though reports suggest she will be murdered by John Stape before he plants her body in the rubble.
Betfred spokesman Jon Wilde said: "Corrie's 50th anniversary special is being billed as four funerals and a wedding, which suggests two more characters besides Molly and Ashley will meet their end.
"The amount of money we've taken for Peter suggests the bookie is well worth a wager to be one of those being written out of the show."
