BoltBus Rockets to Three Million Passengers
East Coast curbside bus service celebrates major milestone
SECAUCUS, N.J., July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- BoltBus, a curbside bus carrier focused on providing exceptional service, luxury and convenience at an amazingly low price, has celebrated another major milestone by officially carrying its three-millionth passenger.
"BoltBus has succeeded beyond our expectations," said David Hall, general manager, BoltBus. "In a little over two years, three million people have experienced the incredible amenities and value of BoltBus, and we look forward to serving many more in the years ahead."
BoltBus launched in March 2008 with a fleet of new motorcoaches that feature extra legroom, power outlets and free Wi-Fi service – as well as one-way fares starting as low as $1. The service quickly developed a passionate following among daily commuters, tech-savvy travelers and weekend vacationers.
Earlier this year, BoltBus hit the two million mark less than seven months after the announcement of the service's one-millionth passenger, signifying the remarkable growth and popularity of the curbside carrier.
In addition to the on-board amenities it provides to passengers, BoltBus offers significant environmental benefits such as:
- Each bus has the potential of removing up to 50 automobiles from the highway
- BoltBus coaches achieve as much as 450 passenger miles per gallon (MPG), making them one of the most environmentally friendly coaches on the road; in contrast, single passenger automobiles achieve 28 passenger MPG
- BoltBus carbon emissions are only 56 grams per passenger, compared to 371 grams for a single-passenger car
- Taking the bus instead of flying cuts emissions by 55 to 75 percent, depending on distance
- A couple boarding a motor coach will cut their carbon nearly in half compared with driving a hybrid car
BoltBus currently provides express service between New York and the following locations: Baltimore; Boston; Cherry Hill, N.J.; Greenbelt Park & Ride, Md.; Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
