Boeing Delivers Lion Air's first 737-900ER with New Boeing Sky Interior
SEATTLE, April 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Lion Air, Indonesia's largest private airline, today celebrated delivery of the carrier's first Next-Generation 737-900ER with the new Boeing Sky Interior.
Designed to dramatically improve the flying experience for passengers, the Boeing Sky Interior features a number of enhancements. The sculpted sidewalls of the interior provide passengers with a feeling of spaciousness. New window reveals make the windows seem larger. LED lighting can be programmed to provide soft blue sky overhead or to create different effects during the flight. Large stowage bins pivot down and out. Intuitive placement of switches and improved sound quality are further features that enhance the passenger experience.
Lion Air was the launch customer for the Boeing Next-Generation 737-900ER in 2005. Today's delivery is the airline's 43rd 737-900ER. In all, the airline has ordered 178 Next-Generation 737s. Lion Air operates an all-Boeing fleet.
