SANTA MONICA, Calif., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The BoDeans have produced a video for their new song "Headed for the End of the World" and have joined the campaign to urge fans to see the new Lawrence Bender produced film, "Countdown to Zero" (along with some of the biggest names in music such as Pearl Jam, REM, Maroon 5, Tom Morello, Steve Earl and others). Additionally, the BoDeans have joined the Take Part Social Action campaign—a movement which urges U.S. Senators to ratify the new START Treaty as well as supporting the Global Zero movement to eliminate all nuclear weapons. Recently signed with 429 Records, the band is currently promoting their new recording MR. SAD CLOWN, a collection of fifteen new, original songs including "Headed for the End of the World." The video for the song, a deeply affecting mix of live performance and clips from the film, debuted last week in conjunction with the national release of the film.

Hailing from Waukesha, Wisconsin, the BoDeans have long been considered one of the premier American rock and roll bands, having created a roots-based, signature style over an unshakeable and influential career. Since their universally acclaimed 1986 debut, "Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams," produced by T-Bone Burnett, the band have won fans the world over, played alongside the biggest names in the business and garnered critical and commercial acclaim. "MR. SAD CLOWN" was released on April 6th by 429 Records, which is distributed by Universal/Fontana in the U.S. and Universal Music in Australia.
COUNTDOWN TO ZERO traces the history of the atomic bomb from its origins to the present state of global affairs: nine nations possess nuclear weapons capabilities with others racing to join them, with the world held in a delicate balance that could be shattered by an act of terrorism, failed diplomacy, or a simple accident. Written and directed by acclaimed documentarian Lucy Walker (Devil's Playground, Blindsight), the film features an array of important international statesmen, including Jimmy Carter, Mikhail Gorbachev, Pervez Musharraf and Tony Blair. Magnolia Pictures is releasing the film in North America; HISTORY™ has North American broadcast rights. The film was produced by Academy Award® winner and 2009 nominee Lawrence Bender (Inglourious Basterds, An Inconvenient Truth) and developed, financed and executive produced by Participant Media, together with World Security Institute
