Bobby Patrick Joins Basho Technologies as Chief Marketing Officer
Experienced Technology Executive to Lead Business Operations
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Dec. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Basho Technologies, the worldwide leader in Web and cloud database technology for the era of Big Data, today announced that Robert (Bobby) Patrick, a highly experienced technology executive, has joined the company as Chief Marketing Officer. Mr. Patrick was previously CMO for GXS, where he inspired and led the development of GXS Trading Grid, the world's largest data integration cloud. Mr. Patrick joins Basho following the recent appointment of Donald J. Rippert, former Chief Technology Officer at Accenture, to president and CEO of Basho.
In joining Basho, Mr. Patrick will lead Basho's business operations, focusing on expanding its market presence, overseeing product strategy, and scaling worldwide distribution channels.
"I am thrilled to have Bobby joining the Basho team," said Rippert. "Since the release of Riak 1.0 nearly two months ago, Basho has experienced significant growth in community and enterprise customer adoption. With a proven track record developing and leading new, high-growth markets, Bobby will be integral in helping us capitalize on this momentum. His leadership capabilities are a great addition to Basho and will be critical to not only scaling our company, but also to help Basho redefine the next generation database and data storage industry."
"Basho is well-positioned to be the data foundation for the next wave of massively scalable and always-available web, mobile and Enterprise IT applications," commented Patrick. "I am excited to help both emerging businesses leverage the power of Riak to gain unmatched performance benefits and to help large, global enterprises escape the shortcomings from last generation architectures that lack the ability to scale by design and are plagued with single points of failure and inefficient data models. I am convinced that tomorrow's most successful businesses will rely heavily on data applications like Basho to outperform their competition as they capitalize on the deluge of data that will help them gain new strategic insights faster and offer unique and enhanced customer experiences."
Before GXS, Mr. Patrick was CMO at Digex, acquired by Verizon, where he pioneered the managed hosting concept. At both companies, Mr. Patrick shaped the creation and development of fast growing markets, garnering market leadership positions for both companies, including earning categorical leadership positions by major industry analyst firms.
