Bobby Genovese's Rambler Debuts Saturday August 9, 2014 at Muskoka Lakes Association Show, Port Carling, Ontario
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, July 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Following an exhaustive three-year restoration, Bobby Genovese's iconic Rambler, a 70-foot, 1903 Polson Iron Works Yacht, will make her debut at the Muskoka Lakes Association Show in Port Carling on Saturday August 9, 2014.
The boat was built for Alexander McKenzie, Treasurer of Canadian National Railways in 1903. Since then, Rambler has had five owners and has undergone three restorations. She was converted from steam to diesel in 1949 and had her second restoration completed in 1984-1985 by Vic and Hazel Carpenter for Tim Chisholm. Bobby Genovese bought Rambler from the Chisholm estate in 2012. The boat was restored for the third time by Paul Brackley and his staff over a two year period, from 2012 to 2014.
The Rambler will be joined by the recently-restored Miss Canada IV at the MLA Show. Miss Canada IV was built by Greavette Boats in 1948 -1949 in Gravenhurst and is powered by a Rolls-Royce Griffon engine. The boat was the first boat to exceed 200 mph. In 1950 she set a "one-way" record of 173 mph.
"It will be exciting to show these two newly-restored boats at the MLA boat show in front of such an enthusiastic and appreciative crowd," said owner Bobby Genovese whose Miss Canada IV took top honors at the 34th Annual Antique and Classic Boat Show in Gravenhurst, Ontario on, July 5, 2014 winning the "Best of Show Restored" award.
"These two great Canadian built classics are a part of Mr. Genovese's growing vintage race boat and antique boat collection," said BG Vintage Racing Team Manager, Jamie Smith. In addition to featuring the iconic Rambler and Miss Miami V, the Genovese collection includes Miss Canada III, Miss Canada IV, and Pistoff, the 1960, 970-horsepower Vic Carpenter custom runabout.
