Boart Longyear drilling services to highlight sonic and production drilling and rod handling at PDAC 2017
SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Boart Longyear (www.BoartLongyear.com), the world's leading provider of drilling services, equipment, performance tooling and instrumentation will feature a broad range of innovative drilling services solutions at this year's PDAC International Convention, Trade Show and Investors Exchange, March 5-8, in Toronto, Canada.
"Our experienced drilling services team has been setting the industry standard for more than 125 years, and we're proud to highlight their capabilities at PDAC," said Mark Irwin, chief commercial officer for Boart Longyear. "We look forward to speaking to customers about a wide range of drilling services solutions including sonic drilling, rod handling and production drilling."
Sonic drilling services
Sonic drilling provides a continuous, relatively undisturbed core sample of unparalleled quality and accuracy through any type of formation. Boart Longyear™ sonic rigs and crews can reach depths over 700 feet (213 meters).
Common applications for sonic drilling include heap leach pad recovery, grade control sampling, and pre-collaring. Sonic drilling advances a temporary outer casing as the borehole is drilled, allowing more to be accomplished with a single borehole. Sonic drilling reduces waste, and can be up to two to three times faster than conventional overburden drilling.
Totally hands-free rod handling
Boart Longyear drilling services is proud to utilize rod handling technology for optimal safety on a range of drill rigs. Boart Longyear's latest LF™160 drill rig, paired with the FL262 FREEDOM™ Loader will be showcased virtually at the show. Boart Longyear's products division in partnership with drilling services has combined proven technology from its most popular surface coring drill rigs to create the powerful LF™160. When paired with the FL262 FREEDOM™ Loader, the combination is ideal for mining exploration clients who stipulate some of the highest safety standards, without compromising on productivity.
Production drilling services
Our drilling service teams are dedicated to delivering safe, fast and effective production drilling by using pneumatic/hydraulic down-the-hole or top hammer methods for slot and inverse raises, long-hole drill and blast, V-30 drilling and cable bolt drilling.
Health and Safety in Mineral Exploration
For the sixth year in a row, Boart Longyear's global EHS and training manager, Brian Maeck, will be presenting at the PDAC Health and Safety in Mineral Exploration Short Course. Maeck's presentation will take place on Saturday, March 4 and cover the basics of drilling, associated hazards and controls, Boart Longyear's safety programs and safety culture.
