BNY Mellon Promotes Suresh Kumar to Chief Information Officer
NEW YORK, April 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- BNY Mellon, the global leader in investment management and investment services, has named Suresh Kumar as its chief information officer (CIO), effective immediately. Currently CIO for the company's Financial Markets and Treasury Services businesses, as well as its Pershing LLC unit, Kumar is a member of the company's global Operating Committee and reports to Kurt D. Woetzel, BNY Mellon's head of global operations and technology, and also its chief administrative officer. Kumar, 54, joined the company in 1986 and in this new position will oversee the implementation of technology strategy, application development and technology infrastructure.

Suresh was the chief architect of Pershing's innovative, open-architecture technology platform NetX360, which is recognized throughout the industry and by our clients for its innovation, powerful applications and ease of use. He also was key to establishing iNautix Technologies India Private Limited, a technology affiliate of BNY Mellon that provides a wide array of critical development services and one of the first financial companies to be rated CMM Level 5 by the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute. Suresh will continue to serve as chief executive officer of iNautix.
Prior to joining the company, he was CIO of CSFBdirect and DLJdirect, which was a pioneer in online brokerage on Prodigy Network, America Online and the Internet with a global presence in Japan, Hong Kong, United Kingdom and Dubai. He earned a bachelor's degree in technology from the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras, a master's degree in business administration from the Indian Institute of Management at Ahmedabad and a master's degree in computer science from the New York Institute of Technology.
In recognition of his achievements, Suresh was named CIO of the Year in 2006 by the New Jersey Technology Council and named to CIO Insight magazine's annual list of Top 100 CIOs in 2007. Pershing was also named by CIO magazine as a winner of the 2010 CIO 100 award, given to organizations that are driving future business growth with innovative technology. Most recently Suresh was named to Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2012. He also is a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Technology Advisory Committee.
