BNY Mellon Earns Perfect Marks in 2011 Corporate Equality Index
NEW YORK, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BNY Mellon, the global leader in asset management and securities servicing, announced that it has earned a top rating of 100 percent in the 2011 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), an annual survey administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. The Index rates employers on their treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees, consumers and investors. Ratings are based on factors such as non-discrimination policies, diversity training and domestic partner benefits for employees.
"By actively promoting an open, supportive and inclusive environment for all employees, we can attract the best talent to drive our organization forward globally," said Brian Rogan, vice chairman and executive sponsor of the company's Prism affinity network, which promotes a workplace in which all LGBT employees are fully included in corporate life.
"To attain this 100 percent perfect rating year after year reflects strong support from executive management and visible leadership from LGBT people across our company," said Prism co-chair Denise Beckman, vice president, BNY Mellon Information Technology. "There's a clear commitment to supporting an inclusive culture and the company's LGBT employees are responding to that, as are our many straight allies. This is a matter of developing our human potential." Prism is co-chaired by Bruce Miller, executive vice president, global client management.
Sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, the CEI is the United States' largest civil rights organization working to achieve LGBT equality. For more information on the 2011 Corporate Equality Index, or to download a free copy of the report, visit http://www.hrc.org/cei.
