BNBuilders Teams with AC Martin to Renovate Caltech Biomedical Laboratory

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- BNBuilders is the design/builder with AC Martin to renovate a Caltech biomedical laboratory for Professor Lihong Wang, a new Medical Engineering professor with Caltech's Engineering & Applied Science Division.  The new laboratory will bring Dr. Wang's breakthrough research and tissue imaging capabilities to Caltech in Pasadena, CA.

Professor Lihong Wang earned his PhD from Rice University in Houston, and currently holds the Gene K. Beare Distinguished Professorship of Biomedical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.  Professor Wang has published more than 420 peer-reviewed articles, and has delivered over 400 keynote, plenary, or invited speeches.  He has received 37 research grants totaling $47 million, and several fellowships, awards, and an honorary doctorate from Lund University, Sweden.  His current laboratory has made numerous advancements in imaging living tissue, including the first functional photoacoustic tomography and 3D photoacoustic microscopy (PAM).  PAM broke through the long-standing limit of conventional optical microscopes, and reached super-depths for noninvasive biochemical, functional, and molecular imaging of living tissue at high resolution. Now, Professor Wang is relocating his research to the new space at Caltech.

The renovated space will feature new imaging laboratories, a tissue culture room, an instrument room, and office space of approximately 10,800 square feet.  The new space will allow for noninvasive imaging of cells, tissues, animals, and humans using lasers and ultrasound technology.  Construction has started within the existing W.M. Keck Building with the renovations scheduled for completion in early 2017.
