BNBuilders Taps Silicon Valley for San Diego's Biotech Growth
BNBuilders Brings Alec Pesant and Jerry Schmidt to San Diego's Expanding Office
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- BNBuilders has recruited experienced leaders from around the state to its San Diego office to support the company's expanding operations in the Southern California region. Founded as a biotech builder, BNBuilders specializes in highly technical and complex construction projects. San Diego's growing business unit is currently constructing or has recently completed laboratories, manufacturing, and R&D facilities for Celgene, Gilead, Amgen, Calibr, Genentech, Otonomy, and Illumina. Locally and along the West Coast, BNBuilders has built the best-in-class projects for world-class leaders in the biotech and life science industries.
Alec Pesant, LEED AP, Senior Project Manager, has moved from the San Francisco Bay Area BNBuilders office to San Diego to work on BNBuilders' increasingly complex life science and high-tech projects. He brings over 15 years of construction experience, specializing in laboratory and manufacturing plants, as well as mission critical/data centers with complex MEP systems and equipment. As a Senior Project Manager, Mr. Pesant is the daily point of contact in the field providing valuable input with technical reviews, cost management, procurement strategy, constructability reviews, schedule and phasing plans, and construction planning, as well as project management and field operations. He helps keep projects on track and ensures they are ready for occupancy. Notable projects under Mr. Pesant's supervision include the $90 million UCSF Institute for Regenerative Medicine and the $330 million Genentech CCP2 Cell Culture Manufacturing expansion in Vacaville, CA.
Jerry Schmidt, Senior Superintendent, also moved from the San Francisco Bay Area BNBuilders office. With over 35 years in the construction industry, Mr. Schmidt has worked on numerous project types, ranging from biotech and healthcare facilities to mission critical/data center and commercial projects. His experience spans everything from small tenant improvements to large-scale new construction. These projects have required Mr. Schmidt's attention to phasing and coordination, and communication with owners, architects, subcontractors, and government agencies. Notable projects under Mr. Schmidt's supervision include the $110 million Salt River Fields, the Spring Training home of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies, UnitedHealth Group's $110 million data center, and Northern Arizona University's $80 million, LEED Gold Wellness Center. A former San Diegan and a seasoned industry veteran, Mr. Schmidt brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and leadership to BNBuilders' San Diego team.
