BMO Global Asset Management Launches Low Volatility Equity Fund
CHICAGO, Oct. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- BMO Global Asset Management announced today the addition of the BMO Low Volatility Equity Fund, designed to provide investors with long-term returns comparable to U.S. large cap stocks but with less volatility.
"A common belief is that investors are rewarded with higher returns for taking on more risk. However, our research shows that this is not generally the case," said Ernesto Ramos, Portfolio Manager and Head of Equities, BMO Asset Management U.S. "In fact, we found that over the last 40 years stocks with the lowest volatility had the highest returns."
The BMO Low Volatility Equity Fund seeks capital appreciation by investing in stocks of some of the largest U.S. based companies similar to those of the Russell 1000® Index.
"Financial advisors are looking for the right tools to help build a diversified portfolio for their clients that effectively responds to volatile market conditions," said Barry S. McInerney, Co-Chief Executive Officer, BMO Global Asset Management. "Additions such as the BMO Low Volatility Equity Fund allow us to expand the diversification opportunities and money management expertise available to investors, and provide them with further options for mitigating down-side risk."
The introduction of the BMO Low Volatility Equity Fund is the 23rd mutual fund offering which provides institutional, retail and high-net-worth individuals with a wide range of equity, balanced, fixed income and money market strategies across the risk/reward spectrum. The fund builds off of an already impressive suite of investing options, including funds that BMO Global Asset Management rolled out earlier this year. In January, the organization introduced four funds, including, BMO Pyrford Global Strategic Return Fund, BMO Pyrford International Stock Fund, BMO Monegy High Yield Bond Fund and BMO Dividend Income Fund. BMO will continue to develop mutual funds that meet the changing demands of clients and allow access to investment experience excellence from across the globe.
"As a global money management firm, we have the potential to offer significant new opportunities to investors," added McInerney. "BMO's resources and commitment will allow us to continue to address the evolving needs of investors and we look forward to doing so."
