BME Launches the Speed Titan™ Nitinol Bone Fixation Implant With Breakthrough Tapered Body Design
SAN ANTONIO, April 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- BioMedical Enterprises (BME) announced the launch of the Speed Titan™ Nitinol Bone Fixation Implant today. As the newest addition to the BME Speed Fixation System, the Speed Titan joins the BME Speed, Speed Arc™ and Speed Shift™ implants to create the world's most comprehensive family of continuous active compression Nitinol implants.
The Speed Titan implant, with a breakthrough tapered body design, has a wider, low-profile bridge, for higher strength and compression. This new Speed Titan implant provides more compression than the leading Nitinol implant competitor. The Speed Titan's wider bridge tapers into narrower legs, making the Speed Titan ideal for high-load, mid-foot applications where there may be limited space for fixation.
The Speed Titan implant comes ready-to-use on a pre-loaded insertion tool. Just like BME's patented Speed system, the Speed Titan utilizes pre-sterilized, fully disposable instrumentation for exceptional efficiencies in the operating room.
"The Speed Titan sets a new standard for compressive bone implant designs," said Keith M. Peeples, President and CEO of BME. "Our team applied the latest in manufacturing methods in order to develop an implant that would give surgeons a better way to fuse challenging joints and osteotomies. When tested against a top competitor, our implant proved to be the stronger, with more compression.*"
"The Speed Titan implant is different than the standard form of Nitinol fixation that many physicians envision," stated Dr. Bryan Den Hartog, Orthopedic Surgeon at Des Moines Orthopedic Surgeons PC. "I have been using the Speed Titan as the primary form of fixation for numerous mid-foot procedures for the past several months. The increased strength of this next generation staple not only gives me a solid and rapid method of fixation, but also adds the important benefit of continual compression at the fusion site, which is not possible with standard titanium and stainless steel implants. This is a great addition to any foot surgeon's implant repertoire."
The new BME Speed Titan Nitinol Bone Fixation Implant is available now for commercial use throughout the United States.
