The project calls for the turn-key installation of Blumberg Grain warehousing systems and technology, specifically the Arctic Vault and Grain Vault product lines for perishable and dry storage, respectively.
This award represents the first phase of the initial order called for in a Letter of Intent executed between Nigerian Minister of Agriculture Akin Adesina and Philip Blumberg, CEO of Blumberg Grain's parent company, Blumberg Capital Partners.
The agreement also confirms Blumberg Grain's intent to build a manufacturing plant and export Hub for West Africa in Nigeria, which will serve as a production facility for Blumberg Grain's food storage warehousing systems and create over 1000 new jobs in Nigeria.
Jide Olumeko, Director of the Nigerian Strategic Grain Reserve, and head of the Nigerian selection committee, said, "After a visit to Blumberg Grain's facilities in the United States, including its engineering center in Ames, Iowa and manufacturing plant in Houston, Texas we were very impressed with the quality and comprehensiveness of Blumberg Grain's food security storage and systems. The effectiveness of their technology and their innovative approach to lower post-harvest losses is highly regarded."
David Blumberg, CEO of Blumberg Grain - West Africa, remarked that "As the most important agriculture market in West Africa, Nigeria is a priority market for Blumberg Grain.
This is the first phase of a large scale storage project to assist farmers throughout Nigeria, reduce post-harvest losses and boost agricultural output. The full project is one of largest in all of Africa, including cold storage for perishables as well as grain and other dry storage."
Blumberg Grain is a leading US based food security company, providing vertically integrated crop and food storage systems and technology. Blumberg Grain's food safety and security infrastructure and warehousing reduces post-harvest losses of grain, produce, and other perishables to 5% or less. The company works with private companies and countries to modernize agricultural value chains, increase the quality and marketable output of their harvests, enable efficient market timing, and significantly boost exports of agriculture products.
As part of its international growth strategy, Blumberg Grain is developing manufacturing plants and export Hubs in Africa, Asia, and South America.
