Bluestar Silicones Employees Achieve Stretch Goal; Shave N.A. President's Head

YORK, S.C., July 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Honoring a long-time challenge to employees, J. Christopher York, president of Bluestar Silicones in North America, will have his head shaved by employees at a celebratory event at the company's York, S.C. facility on Thursday, July 30 at 3 p.m.

This event will celebrate the achievement of a significant challenge set forth by Mr. York for the team to reach. 

"Successfully accomplishing the challenge involved the support of all employees locally and globally working together to make it happen," said Mr. York.  "I couldn't be more proud of my team and intend to make fulfilling my end of the challenge fun and meaningful, even if it means getting my head shaved!"

The company also is celebrating having recently achieved its hiring objectives as outlined under the South Carolina Revitalization Agreement.  Bluestar Silicones is pleased to report it has brought 54 new jobs to the local economy since moving to York in 2012.  Locally, the company employs 109 people.

As part of the celebration, employees are purchasing raffle tickets for a chance to be one of the three employees that will shave Mr. York's head.

Proceeds from the raffles will be donated to St. Baldrick's Foundation, which funds research to find cures for childhood cancers.
