Blue Shield of California Receives Four Stars for Medicare Health Plan
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Blue Shield of California announced today that its Medicare Health Plan received four stars for program quality. This rating, issued by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), measures Medicare health and drug plans' quality using their new 5-star rating program.
"This quality measurement both recognizes our efforts and fully aligns with Blue Shield's mission to provide access to quality, affordable health care for all Californians," said Kathy Swenson, senior vice president, Individual, Small Group, & Government Business Unit (ISGBU).
Medicare measures the quality of health and prescription drug plans using more than 50 metrics such as plan responsiveness, customer service, pricing and safety, and pharmacy services. The ratings are updated every fall and are found on the Medicare Plan Finder website at www.medicare.gov/find-a-plan.
