Blue Shield of California Offers Assistance to Members Affected by Wildfires in Los Angeles, Monterey and Napa counties

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Blue Shield of California is closely monitoring conditions in Los Angeles, Monterey and Napa counties surrounding the Sand, Soberanes and Cold wildfires. The company has taken the following actions to help ensure continuity of care for affected members:

Our pharmacy team is allowing for the immediate refill of prescriptions, even if they are not yet due to be refilled.
We are conducting outreach to affected members who currently participate in a care management program.

We also reached out to the small number of Blue Shield employees who live in affected areas. Blue Shield has no offices in the affected areas.

Members who may have lost or misplaced their identification card can print a temporary card on our website at blueshieldca.com. Alternatively, members can use their mobile device to access our member portal and obtain their membership card information.

Blue Shield will continue to monitor activity and may make further adjustments to continue to best serve our members.
