Blue Shield of California Foundation Awards $3.9 million to Further Strengthen California's Healthcare Safety Net & Address Domestic Violence
4th-quarter grants bring total 2016 giving to more than $29 million
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Shield of California Foundation announced today $3.9 million in fourth-quarter grantmaking, raising its total 2016 giving to more than $29 million to advance its mission to improve health equity and end domestic violence in California. Fourth-quarter grants include $1.46 million to support community organizations working to connect mental health services and primary care for low-income patients.

In addition to investments in integrated behavioral healthcare services and systems, the Foundation continues to be a partner in the Cultural Responsiveness Domestic Violence Network to ensure that domestic violence prevention and intervention strategies are tailored to meet the unique needs of survivors in diverse communities across the state. This includes grants to disseminate new organizational assessment tools and best practices, as well advocacy efforts to encourage federal funding strategies that support individuals and families in marginalized communities.
These grants bring the Foundation's total philanthropic giving to more than $384 million since 2002.
