SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 23, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Aquarium of the Bay at PIER 39 hosted 300 guests at The 2019 Blue Marble Benefit, on Friday September 20th, honoring local Eco-Heroes. Hornblower Events & Cruises/Alcatraz Cruises received the Roger Murphy Education Partner of the Year Award for their efforts in providing the aquatic education program aboard the Hornblower Hybrid Ferry. PIER 39 was presented the Warren Simmons Business Partner of the Year Award, home of the Aquarium of the Bay for the past twenty-three years. The 27th Bay Institute Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Barry Nelson, a water policy analyst and advocate engaged in Bay-Delta issues for over 30 years. Felicia Marcus, Former Chairman of the California Water Resources Control Board was presented with the Bay Hero of the Year Award.
The event was sponsored by long standing supporters of tourism within the San Francisco community such as Big Bus Tours, San Francisco CityPASS, and Alcatraz Cruises. Sustainable seafood and organic cuisine were served by 18 local culinary establishments in keeping with the mission to bring climate health and resilience to the forefront of conversations. Guests enjoyed live musical performances by Bay Area resident and artist Freddy Clarke.
