CARROLLTON, Texas, Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- This past week, a Blue Jay #giveaday team set off for downtown Dallas and the American Airlines Center to participate in the 3rd Annual "Drop Your Pants" Clothing Drive supporting the Cornerstone Clothes Closet. The crew helped out with the collection and sorting of loads of donated clothing items. The people of the Metroplex came through enormously by dropping off clothing for the homeless. What a way to make a difference. Not to mention, SportsRadio 1310 The Ticket was handing out tickets to an upcoming Dallas Stars game in return for those donations. Ticket mid-day host, Bob Sturm, garnered support for the event with radio spots and mentions during his broadcast, and the listeners pulled through in a big way, as the line of vehicles grew to drop off their donations all day long.
Event coordinator, Nancy Rockwell, said the event was a great success and was very grateful to all the volunteers, including Blue Jay, for their service that day. This is their third year to run this event and she was very pleased with the turnout and response. Nancy reflected the results, "It was such a great event for us, we collected 2400 pairs of pants & jeans, 2200 shirts, 1000 pairs of shorts, 150 coats & jackets and 150 pairs of new underwear." Those items collected will be available to those in need at their facility at 2711 S. Ervay St. in Dallas.
Blue Jay was happy to get involved and help out in any way possible and we want to thank the people in DFW for "dropping your pants" for a wonderful cause and a fantastic event.
