CARROLLTON, Texas, Aug. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Jay Wireless served as the Entertainment Sponsor for Make-A-Wish North Texas' Delicious Wishes event on August 16, 2016. The Blue Jay team was in attendance as the event took place at the Piazza on the Green center in McKinney, Texas. The team enjoyed delicious foods from various contributing restaurants. There were 13 chefs participating from all over Collin County, overseen by Chef Tre Wilcox of Top Chef fame. They also took in some terrific music by the local Dallas band, Train to Nowhere, and of course the opportunity to help raise money for children suffering from life-threatening illnesses. Blue Jay left the event inspired after hearing the stories from the stage, as families shared their wish stories of heartbreak and triumph with those gathered at the event. "It is important to refresh your passion regarding social change, even when you are out volunteering in the community on a consistent basis, like Blue Jay employees are." stated Blue Jay Wireless Community Relations Manager, Shannon Davis. She added, "Delicious Wishes gave us the opportunity to stop 'doing' for a moment and just listen. To simply hear and feel the stories of these children and their families that they so bravely shared with us. The night was truly an inspiration."
Make-A-Wish North Texas is on track to grant 635 wishes this fiscal year, which ends this month for them. Last night's event was a celebration and a fundraiser to raise awareness and dollars for the Make-A-Wish cause, including a live auction and a silent auction, as well as special speakers throughout the evening. They raised nearly $80,000 last night with more than 250 in attendance and the overwhelming success of this event surpassed that of last year's event. Make-A-Wish North Texas continues to make a difference in the region.
