On December 2, 2016, new rules to modernize the program and bring the Lifeline program into the 21st century went into effect. Most significantly, these new rules adopted under the FCC's Lifeline Modernization Order, now make mobile broadband a Lifeline supported service. Lifeline supported broadband service will help bring high-speed internet access to millions of Americans who might not otherwise be able to afford it.
Blue Jay has made extensive investments into improving its Lifeline service offerings throughout its service territory to ensure its customers benefit from the FCC's new rules. The Company now offers three no-cost Lifeline plans to its Lifeline customers in most states: 1) 500 voice minutes with unlimited texts, 2) 250 voice minutes, unlimited texts, and 500 MB of data, and 3) unlimited voice minutes and texts with 1 GB of data for tribal residents. In addition, Blue Jay offers a variety of additional plan options and top-ups to give Lifeline customers the flexibility to create customer wireless service plans to meet their individual needs and budgets.
