Blue Horizon International Founder and Others Attend 2014 Winter Olympics, Discuss Stem Cell Treatments for Sports-Related Injuries, Recovery
NEW YORK, March 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- World-renowned stem cell-researcher and founder of Blue Horizon International (BHI), Brian Mehling, MD, attended the 22nd Winter Olympic Games in Sochi last week. The New York-based orthopedic trauma surgeon was joined by Blue Horizon International team members Eddie Amarante, Manuel McDonald, and Michael Harte to spread awareness about the tremendous benefits of stem cell research and stem cell therapies.
"Stem cells are the future of medicine. As an orthopedic trauma surgeon, I see first hand how helpful stem cells are when it comes to regeneration after sports injuries, surgeries, or just for faster regeneration," said Dr. Mehling. "We have successfully performed more than 2500 procedures and the results are amazing. We want the athletes competing here in Sochi and elsewhere to learn about the benefits of this revolutionary treatment."
Dr. Mehling, a long-time sports fan, has attended several Olympic Games in the past including the London, Beijing, and Vancouver venues. The Olympic Games were visited by fans from 126 countries and organizers sold over a million tickets. More than 2,800 athletes from 88 countries arrived in Sochi, competing for a record 98 sets of medals.
"Sochi has now hosted the first ever Olympic Winter Games in Russian history. We are proud to say that Russia has completely fulfilled everything that we promised when we bid to host the Games," stated the President of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, Dmitry Chernyshenko. "The Games in Sochi are a great moment in our history, a moment that we will stay in our hearts for generations."
