Blue Horizon Charitable Foundation Receives 501(c)(3) Status
NEW YORK, July 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Horizon Charitable Foundation (BHCF) officially received its 501(c)(3) status on May 9, 2014.
A 501(c) organization, also known colloquially as a 501(c), is an American tax-exempt nonprofit organization. Section 501(c) of the United States Internal Revenue Code (26 U.S.C. § 501(c)) provides that 29 types of nonprofit organizations are exempt from some federal income taxes.
501(c)(3) exemptions apply to corporations, and any community chest, fund, cooperating association or foundation, organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, testing for public safety, literary, or educational purposes, to foster national or international amateur sports competition, or for the prevention of cruelty to children or animals. There are also supporting organizations which are often referred to in shorthand form as "Friends of" organizations.
BHCF is the fundraising arm of Blue Horizon International (BHI). BHI is an organization that is dedicated to promoting and enhancing the quality of medical care to children and adults across the globe who might otherwise not have access to quality healthcare. To achieve this goal, the charity's primary focus is to support organizations providing health and human services; including hospitals and medical research facilities. The foundation also provides stem cell therapies on a charity basis to those who seek the treatment but are not able to afford the innovative treatment.
Currently, more than 600 patients have been treated safely and effectively with over 2,600 regenerative procedures. Many of these patients were afforded the treatments through the efforts of the Blue Horizon Charitable Foundation (BHCF).
Dr. Mehling's vision became a reality with the establishment of Blue Horizon International, a healthcare consulting company that includes Blue Horizon Stem Cells. "Stem cell therapies and regenerative medicine will soon be the preferred treatment method over many surgical, pharmacological, and rehabilitative medical services," said Dr. Mehling.
"It takes strong partnerships to build, maintain, and support worthy causes. Our foundation is here to help those who are suffering or who are at risk. Our desire is to develop relationships with organizations whose missions and visions align with ours...and inspire people to take action," said Eddie Amarante, founder and director of the BHCF.
With this in mind, the foundation sponsors events throughout the year to raise awareness and to provide education about enhancing the quality of medical care to those in need. "We are grateful for the generosity of so many people throughout the years who have supported our cause. This support allows us to fund and provide medical treatments on a global level," stem cell guru Dr. Mehling added.
Patty Hillkirk, executive director of Camp Dreamcatcher, a non-profit agency serving HIV/AIDS Impacted youth and one of the keynote speakers at the last charity event said, "The Blue Horizon Charitable Foundation is making such a positive impact on children coping with medical challenges and I admire the work the foundation is involved in throughout the world." The Rev. Dr. Ben Tumuheirwe, founder and director of Juan Amagara Ministries in Uganda, also a keynote speaker echoed those sentiments.
BHCF is the fundraising arm of Blue Horizon International and is dedicated to promoting and enhancing the quality of medical care given to children and adults across the globe. To achieve this goal, BHCF donates stem cell treatments to eligible individuals. For more information, visit www.bluehorizonfoundation.org.
