Blue Health Intelligence® Names Dr. Michael Sokol Chief Medical Officer
CHICAGO, July 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Blue Health Intelligence (BHI), a leading healthcare data and analytics company, has announced that Dr. Michael Sokol, M.D., M.S., has joined BHI as chief medical officer.
As a member of the senior leadership team, Dr. Sokol will help to determine the strategic direction for the company. He will provide clinical guidance to the development and execution of BHI's products and services, as well as consultation to BHI's customers. In addition, Dr. Sokol will support the company's new business development activities and collaborative research projects with leading academic institutions.

Prior to joining BHI, Dr. Sokol was global corporate medical director for Merck & Co., Inc., where he led the Integrated Health Management department that is responsible for operating the company's employee health clinics, fitness centers, disability management programs and occupational health and wellness activities.
In his prior roles at GlaxoSmithKline and Medco Health Solutions, Dr. Sokol focused on population health improvement, value-based benefit design, and health services research. He developed patient and physician education programs and contributed to both companies' health policy and public affairs initiatives.

Dr. Sokol is a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine, and he holds two academic appointments: Senior Fellow in the Jefferson School of Population Health at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Community and Preventive Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He also serves on the editorial board of the journal Population Health Management and has published several articles.
