Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Welcomes Veteran Businesses

DETROIT, Jan. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Veteran Business Development Council (NVBDC) is pleased to announce that Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is now a corporate sponsor.

"This support is expected to lead to significant business opportunities for our certified Service Disabled and Veteran-Owned Businesses," said Keith King, President of the NVBDC.

According to Ms. Lynn Garrison, Supplier Diversity Administrator, Corporate Procurement at BCBS of Michigan, the NVBDC has familiarized the BCBS Procurement Buyers, Managers and Staff with its services.

"The goal was to give the buyers and staff a better understanding and awareness of the importance of working with diverse businesses, as well as how this affects the community - and essentially circles back around to the company."

The NVBDC has a searchable data base of its certified SD/VOBs and each Veteran Owned company is issued a Certificate showing their status as a SD or VOB. Certificates are dated with an expiration date; each Certificate is numbered for tracking and accountability, and an SD/VOB 'badge' is issued for their use.

The NVBDC Certification Committee is supporting Certified Veteran Owned Businesses throughout all 50 United States and US territories.
