Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona to Offer ACA Individual and Family Plans in Pinal County in 2017
PHOENIX, Sept. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) announced it will expand its 2017 Affordable Care Act (ACA) plan coverage to include Pinal County, pending regulatory approval. The approximately 10,000 people who signed up for health insurance last year will now have the ability to purchase an ACA health plan this year.
Adding Pinal County means BCBSAZ will sell plans in 14 Arizona counties, and be the sole carrier in 13 of them. "We are committed to serving these areas in 2017," said Rich Boals, president and CEO.
"Regulators and policy makers must find a way to stabilize the market and put long-term fixes in place. In the meantime, BCBSAZ is trying hard to balance the company's financial losses from the ACA with the very real concerns of Arizonans," said Boals.
