Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas ranks highest in J.D. Power 2015 Regional Member Satisfaction Study in a tie in Texas and achieves highest score in the Provider Choice and Coverage and Benefits Study factors

RICHARDSON, Texas, April 28, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) tied for the highest ranking in overall member satisfaction among commercial health plans in Texas and achieved the highest score in the provider choice as well as coverage and benefits factors, according to the J.D. Power 2015 Member Satisfaction Study.

The J.D. Power 2015 Member Satisfaction Study surveyed 31,543 commercial health plan members across regional markets, including Texas, where the BCBSTX plan operates. The study assessed consumers' experiences and satisfaction with their health plans compared to J.D. Power's national benchmark based on six key criteria: information and communication; provider choice; claims processing; customer service; cost; and coverage and benefits.

The performance analysis across 134 health insurance plan companies in 18 regions in the U.S. uncovered the key drivers of commercial health insurance satisfaction. The online survey took place between November and December 2014, and evaluated members who have group individually purchased health insurance. The survey did not include individuals who purchased health care plans on the state or federal exchanges.
