Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois Members Can Divvy at a Discount
Divvy Sponsor Providing Member Perk
CHICAGO, July 21, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The price of an annual membership to Chicago's bike sharing program is about to drop for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) members. Beginning August 1, BCBSIL members will be able to sign up for an annual Divvy membership at the discounted rate of $65 per year.
In May, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois became the exclusive sponsor of the Divvy bike share system.
"We are so pleased to share this discount with our members. Our sponsorship of Chicago's Divvy program is such a great way to promote health and wellness in our community and we want our members to experience Divvy for themselves," says Karen Atwood, president of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois. "We hope the discount will be an incentive for members to try Divvy bikes, which provide a healthy, environmentally-friendly way to explore this great city we have called home for 78 years."
Between August 1st and October 31st, BCBSIL members can go to Blue365deals.com/BCBSIL and login with their username and password (first time users click "Register"). Click "Browse Deals" and select "Fitness," then follow the steps to sign up for the Divvy Bike deal.
The yearly membership includes:
- 3,000 bikes at 300 stations across Chicago
- Unlimited trips of 30 minutes or less
- Availability 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
- Flexibility to rent and return bikes at any station in Chicago
"This Divvy discount for Blue Cross members will inspire even more people to travel around Chicago in more active ways," said Chicago Department of Transportation Commissioner Rebekah Scheinfeld. "Our long-term partnership with Blue Cross is helping us expand the bike share system, improve and maintain bike lanes, and encourage more cycling in our neighborhoods."
Beginning today, Divvy is also offering current and new Divvy members $10 off helmets from Bern, Bell, and Giro, redeemable at participating local stores. Current members will receive a voucher via email and new members will receive a voucher in their membership packets. Details can be found at http://DivvyBikes.com/helmets.
