"Mystery Box Challenge" will air Thursday, April 20, on FOX
NEW YORK, April 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Apron, whose mission is to make incredible home cooking accessible by delivering original recipes and fresh ingredients, announced today its partnership with FOX's culinary competition series, MASTERCHEF JUNIOR, which gives talented kids between the ages of 8 and 13 the chance to showcase their culinary abilities and passion for food through a series of delicious challenges. Blue Apron collaborated with the series producers, Endemol Shine North America, to develop a Mystery Box Challenge in the all-new episode airing Thursday, April 20 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
"Blue Apron is thrilled to partner with MASTERCHEF JUNIOR to help inspire a new generation of home cooks," said Jared Cluff, Chief Marketing Officer at Blue Apron. "Because we share a similar goal to encourage families to cook at home and spend valuable time in the kitchen together, our partnership will help further our company mission and enables us to bring unique cooking experiences to more homes across the country."
"Blue Apron is the ideal partner to bring this activation to life both on screen and in fans' homes across the country," says Tamaya Petteway, SVP Brand and Licensing Partnerships at Endemol Shine North America. "We're delighted that the winning dish from one of our beloved 'MasterChef Junior' contestants will be available for families to experience and enjoy in collaboration with this best-in-class brand."
During the episode, each young home cook will open his or her Mystery Box to reveal a Blue Apron Family Plan box with a choice of two proteins and an assortment of farm-sourced winter vegetables. They will be given 45 minutes to curate a dinner recipe that the whole family can enjoy using the 10-12 Blue Apron ingredients and items from the MASTERCHEF JUNIOR pantry.
The winner will receive a competitive advantage in the next cooking challenge in the show and have his or her own winning recipe featured on an upcoming Blue Apron Family Plan menu. To celebrate the partnership, all eight MASTERCHEF JUNIOR contestants will also receive one year of Blue Apron meals. To order the winning recipe, fans can visit blueapron.com/masterchefjr beginning April 21, 2017, and Blue Apron will deliver fresh, perfectly-portioned ingredients and step-by-step instructions so customers can cook the winning Family Plan recipe the week of May 8, 2017.
