NEW YORK, Sept. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- For the fifth consecutive year, Bloomingdale's will be supporting the Child Mind Institute's mission of transforming mental health care for children everywhere with a special cause-related marketing program this holiday season. It is estimated that one in five children have a psychiatric or learning disorder, yet less than half of them will get the care that can change their lives. The Child Mind Institute is committed to finding more effective treatments for childhood psychiatric and learning disorders, building the science of healthy brain development, and empowering children and their families with help, hope, and answers.
Bloomingdale's shoppers are invited to support the Child Mind Institute by purchasing the following gifts, all of which will provide much-needed funds and increase awareness:
- Bloomingdale's Little Brown Bear by Gund, $18 – An annual collectible, the 2014 version by Gund features a cable knit sweater and hat all topped off with a bow. $2 from the sale of each Little Brown Bear benefits the Child Mind Institute. It will be available in-store and online beginning in November.
- Alex and Ani's Charity By Design: Little Brown Bear Charm Bangle, $28 – Created exclusively for Bloomingdale's by the fast-growing lifestyle brand, the teddy bear charm is a symbol of comfort and a reminder of the carefree days of childhood. It also serves as a loyal cheerful guardian, providing encouragement during challenging times. Alex and Ani will donate 20% of sales from this charm to the Child Mind Institute. In addition, on September 10th, Bloomingdale's locations nationwide and bloomingdales.com donated 10% of all Alex and Ani purchases to the Child Mind Institute.
- Holiday Gifts Designed by Michael Aram, $30-$195 – The beloved artist created a series of holiday gifts exclusively for Bloomingdale's including a menorah, ornament, photo frame, and snow globe. They all feature the silhouette of children in an effort to capture the innocence and sense of freedom every child deserves. Michael Aram will donate 5% of the purchase price of these items to the Child Mind Institute.
"Bloomingdale's is proud to have been a supporter of the Child Mind Institute from the very beginning," said Anne Keating, Bloomingdale's senior vice president of public relations, special events and corporate philanthropy. "Giving back is inherent to our brand's DNA, and there is no better time to reinforce the importance of children's mental health than during the holiday season."
"We are delighted to be working alongside Bloomingdale's for the fifth consecutive holiday season to spread goodwill and holiday cheer with a special collection of gifts," said Dr. Harold Koplewicz, president of the Child Mind Institute. "The national attention Bloomingdale's brings to the Child Mind Institute makes an indelible impact on our goal of understanding childhood mental illness."
This year's products are available for purchase in Bloomingdale's stores nationwide and at www.bloomingdales.com.
