NEW YORK, Dec. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Bloomberg's information compliance and archiving platform, Bloomberg Vault, was named a leader by Forrester Research in its recent report, "Forrester Wave: Information Archiving Cloud Providers, Q4 2016."
Forrester evaluated the 13 most significant information archiving cloud providers for its report. It found that archiving, especially in regulated industries is shifting away from on-premises deployments to adoption of cloud services. EA professionals and their information governance stakeholders seek scalable, predicable subscription services to meet their email, message, and content archiving needs.
Financial services firms have the unique requirement to store a variety of content types, including email, voice and instant message communications, as well as trade and market data to meet new regulatory requirements. The Forrester report stated that Bloomberg has made significant investments in archiving over recent years, noting, "Investment and banking firms that need to do complex trade reconstruction – combining structured and unstructured data, including voice communications – can benefit from the Bloomberg Vault's extensive surveillance/supervision capabilities."
In an effort to comply with the in-depth record-keeping requirements associated with MiFID II and Dodd-Frank, financial firms have increasingly sought out cloud providers who can efficiently monitor and retain large volumes of data spanning the entire trading lifecycle. This includes all pre-trade and post-trade details, such as trade negotiations, market conditions, news and social media, trading volumes, transactions data, and positions data. To facilitate the complex task of trade reconstruction, surveillance and record-keeping capabilities need to process and link data that is generated by multiple systems across a financial firm.
"Bloomberg's advantage is that we channel, and therefore can link, diverse data sets to provide a full picture of what occurred throughout the life cycle of a trade," said Don Carey, Global Head of Bloomberg's Community and Compliance business. "Weaving trade and communications data together gives customers compliance and record-keeping solutions they need to meet regulatory mandates. This also powers analytics that they can use to sharpen trading strategies."
Bloomberg Vault is a secure cloud-based service for information governance, surveillance, data analytics and trade reconstruction across the enterprise. To-date it has helped more than 1,000 firms securely capture and encrypt a variety of content types so compliance managers can review trading operations from pre-trade through post-trade. To capture additional trading insights, customers can also leverage Bloomberg's post-trade transaction-cost-analysis (TCA). The TCA tool allows customers to monitor best execution, market impact and timing, and provides them with a single view of trading performance across any asset class.
