Pascal Faes received the International Tax Portfolio Author of the Year award for his work on Tax Management Portfolio Business Operations in the European Union - Taxation. Guillermo Teijeiro was recognized as a 2015 International Tax Contributor of the Year for his three-part article, "Opening Pandora's Box in the International Tax Field: New Trends," which was featured in Bloomberg BNA's International Tax News. Yuko Miyazaki also received the 2015 International Tax Contributor of the Year award for her articles on "Tax Treatment of Expatriations by Individuals" and "Income and Estate, Gift and Wealth Tax Consequences to Inbound Employees" in Tax Management International Forum.
"Bloomberg BNA is delighted to recognize these very accomplished tax practitioners," said Lisa Fitzpatrick, Vice President and General Manager of Bloomberg BNA Tax & Accounting. "Jacques, Pascal, Guillermo, and Yuko are true thought leaders in international taxation, and we are honored to recognize the in-depth analysis and perspectives they have provided our subscribers for their respective jurisdictions. International taxation is highly complex and changing, and these authors exemplify the practical insights Bloomberg BNA's network of more than 1,100 leading practitioners brings to our subscribers."
Malherbe is currently a Partner with Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick and a professor Emeritus of the University of Louvain, and a visiting professor at the universities of Hamburg and Bologna and Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales, France. "I am truly honored to receive the Leonard L. Silverstein Award for Distinguished Service in International Tax," said Malherbe. "I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Leonard for more than 50 years and am proud to have worked with him to provide practitioners a better understanding of the nuances inherent in international tax law."
Faes heads the Brussels tax practice group of NautaDutilh and has extensive experience in all areas of tax law including transactional work, with a particular emphasis on tax structuring and international tax planning. He is Special Consultant to Bloomberg BNA.
"I am honored to receive the Portfolio Author of the Year award. It seems particularly fitting as this Portfolio was really the culmination of a relationship that started in 1988 when Jacques Malherbe was my mentor and I wrote my first paper for Bloomberg BNA," said Faes. "Over these 30 years we developed a fruitful collaboration, one of the results being the Tax Management Portfolio on the European Union - Taxation."
Teijeiro is a founding partner of Teijeiro & Ballone and teaches international taxation at the Master Program in Taxation, Universidad Catolica Argentina. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Master Program in taxation of Univerisdad Torcuato Di Tella, Buenos Aires. A former plenary member of the IFA Permanent Scientific Committee, Teijeiro is currently a member of the IFA General Council.
"I have worked with Bloomberg BNA for over thirty years, having published my first English-language article in Tax Planning International Review," said Teijeiro. "I am honored to be recognized by Bloomberg BNA, an organization I deem my second home."
Miyazaki is a partner with Nagashima, Ohno & Tsunematsu and has a broad range of expertise and experience in the areas of international taxation and taxation on financial and securities transactions. "Since 1996, I have been fortunate to be able to contribute to Bloomberg BNA's Tax Management International Forum," said Miyazaki. "I'm excited to receive such a distinguished honor, which represents not just my 2015 contributions, but the body of my work with Bloomberg BNA over the last 20 years."
