ARLINGTON, Va., Jan. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bloomberg BNA today announced that CEO and President Greg McCaffery has been named to the Board of Directors of the News Literacy Project (NLP). Based in Bethesda, Maryland, the NLP is an innovative national education program that equips middle school and high school students with the tools to be smart, active consumers of news and information and engaged, informed citizens.
"Educating students to be discerning consumers of news strengthens both their critical thinking skills and our democracy," said McCaffery. "I'm delighted to join the NLP board as we expand the reach of this important education initiative that inspires our next generation of savvy news consumers."
McCaffery has been with the organization for three decades, beginning his career in reporting and editing positions on a number of its publications. He also served as the company's editor-in-chief as well as its publisher. He was named president in 2007 and assumed the role of CEO in 2012.
"The News Literacy Project is honored to have Greg join our board," said Alan C. Miller, NLP's president and founder. "He brings us outstanding journalistic and management experience and expertise as well as a clear commitment to our mission.
