HUDSONVILLE, Mich., Jan. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Bloem, the leading manufacturer of planters and outdoor living products, today announced the acquisition of American Designer Pottery (ADP), a division of Fiskars Brands, Inc. With the acquisition, Bloem becomes one of the largest designer and manufacturers of decorative planters, with more than 30 percent of the market.
Based in Apopka, Florida, ADP recorded net sales of $27.5M in 2015 and employs nearly 50 full-time employees and approximately 100 part-time and seasonal workers during its peak production. Bloem plans to maintain and grow manufacturing operations in Florida while adding at least ten more employees in Hudsonville to manage the new business growth.
"We are acquiring ADP from Fiskars because we see significant synergies between the companies marketing and manufacturing capabilities with very little redundancy," said Ryan Mast, president and founder of Bloem. "Following the acquisition, Bloem will be the leading decorative planter brand, with reach into national retailers, regional co-op stores and independent home and garden centers."
Bloem was founded with a vision to bring innovation, design, marketing, and an aggressive sales force to the home and garden industry, and has emerged as one of the fastest-growing brands in the segment. The company's reach will now extend into more than 10,000 retailers in all 50 states and across Canada, selling through key national retailers and co-op stores as well as independent and family-operated home and garden centers.
"We are confident that Bloem will build upon the success of ADP," said Paul Tonnesen, president of Fiskars Americas.
Bloem has spent the past three years adding innovative styles and designs to the decorative planter industry. Bloem's containers and planters have led the industry with bold colors designed to complement indoor décor or make a statement in an outdoor landscape or patio.
"It's not just about manufacturing and marketing pots and planters, but how we create something functional, innovative and delightful that connects people with the natural world," added Mast.
Mast, who sought to bring new vitality to the decorative planter segment, founded Bloem in 2012. Management of the newly combined company will continue from West Michigan, though Bloem is looking to grow operations at the ADP facility through new investments in building and manufacturing assets, as well as employees. The addition of ADP is the company's third acquisition in as many years, making it one of the fastest-growing home and garden consumer brands in the country.
