ASA HSIG Chair, Robert James Cimasi, ASA, has announced that faculty headliners for this two-day, in-person educational course feature renowned experts in the fields of health policy, health law, and health economics, including:
(1) Steven H. Pratt, Esq. – A healthcare attorney at Hall Render Killian Heath & Lyman in the firm's Indianapolis office. Mr. Pratt's practice areas include Hospital & Physician Transactions, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Tax Exemption. Mr. Pratt will be presenting on the regulatory environment of the healthcare industry.
(2) Phillip Street, Esq. - A partner in the Healthcare and Life Sciences practices of the law firm of Paul Hastings, based in the firm's Atlanta office. With over 25 years of experience in the life sciences/healthcare field, he focuses his practice on healthcare and life sciences transactions, including business formations, clinical integrations and alignment, strategic alliances, venture financings, mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, and the commercialization of life sciences research. Mr. Street will be presenting on the impact of competitive forces on the healthcare industry.
(3) Randall Ortman, Esq. – A healthcare attorney at McDermott Will & Emery LLP, based in the firm's Chicago office. He focuses his practice on health information technology, as well as general health law matters, including transactional and regulatory matters. Mr. Ortman counsels health information technology vendors and healthcare providers on website operations, software development, open source components, licensing and distribution agreements, data privacy and security, and related implications of HIPAA and the HITECH Act. Mr. Ortman will be presenting on advancements in healthcare technology.
(4) Kevin Syberg, DrPH, MPH - An Assistant Professor of Health Management and Policy at Saint Louis University, he also serves as Director of the Undergraduate Program in Public Health. Dr. Syberg has over 20 years of experience in high-level management positions in hospitals and health systems, and has expertise in community engagement associated with healthcare access and experience in state-level health policy. Dr. Syberg will be presenting on the reimbursement environment of the healthcare industry in an era of reform.
(5) Robert James Cimasi, MHA, ASA, FRICS, MCBA, CVA, CM&AA, is CEO of Health Capital Consultants, a nationally recognized healthcare financial and economic consulting firm headquartered in St. Louis, MO, serving clients in 49 states since 1993. He serves as Vice Chair of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Task Force; is the current Chair of ASA HSIG; is the developer of the ASA HSIG Program course materials; and, is the author of "Healthcare Valuation: The Financial Appraisal of Enterprises, Assets, and Services" (John Wiley & Sons, 2014), and numerous other published books, chapters, and peer reviewed articles.
