Block & Leviton LLP Investigates Credit Card Breach at The Home Depot
BOSTON, Sept. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Block & Leviton LLP (www.blockesq.com), a Boston-based law firm representing consumers nationwide, has commenced an investigation into a credit card data breach at The Home Depot (NYSE: HD).
According to reports today, "multiple banks say they are seeing evidence that Home Depot stores may be the source of a massive new batch of stolen credit and debit cards that went on sale this morning in the cybercrime underground." Home Depot has confirmed that law enforcement agencies are investigating.
According to reports, the Home Depot breach could be "many times larger than [the breach of] Target, which had 40 million credit and debit cards stolen over a three-week period."
Block & Leviton's investigation seeks to determine, among other things, whether Home Depot acted negligently or otherwise breached any duties owed to its customers.
