PISCATAWAY, N.J., May 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- BlackStratus, a leading provider of security and compliance technology tailored for both SMBs and large enterprises, announced today that it has selected Mike Maxwell as its Chief Security Officer. Maxwell's announcement comes on the heels of the company's partnership with Autotask and more importantly, the recently launched CYBERShark service; a cloud-based Security-as-a-Service tailored to fill the huge security and compliance void in the SMB market. Reporting to BlackStratus' CEO Dale Cline, Maxwell is responsible for the current and future development of the company's entire technology portfolio.
As Chief Security Officer, Mike oversees technical service operations, technical account management, product management and strategy, and industry analyst relationships. Before coming to BlackStratus, Mike spent over a decade with British Telecom (BT) where he led global delivery of Assure Threat Monitoring; the security monitoring platform for notable events like the London 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2015 Rugby World Cup. With nearly 20 years of experience in IT Security and Service Delivery, Mike is one of the most sought after cyber security professionals and is able to handle the wide range demands of BlackStratus' global clientele which range from small businesses to large commercial enterprises to federal government agencies.
"Mike is a very strategic addition to our executive management team, especially at a time when we're rolling out our new cloud-based CYBERShark service within the SMB market and need his expertise to guide our product development and strategy within that marketspace," said Dale Cline, CEO of BlackStratus.
Most recently Maxwell was Global Head of Platform and Service Delivery at BT where he was responsible for leading the BT Assure Intelligence Platform and Service Delivery, which was tasked with the deployment and support of MSSP network services, applications services, infrastructure, and data security to both internal and external customers globally. Maxwell was also responsible for all global SOCs and data centers; including people, process, and systems. His lengthy career at BT began in 2006 as a senior network engineer, where he joined BT as part of their Counterpane Internet Security acquisition.
"I'm excited to join BlackStratus at a time when cyber security is playing such an important role within the SMB community as it works to adopt new and affordable technologies to prevent the increasing number of cyberattacks against the largest pool of employers," said Mike Maxwell, Chief Security Officer of BlackStratus. "Security today is much more than just protecting IT assets; it is also about protecting people. Part of my job at BlackStratus is identifying and pursuing new technologies that will provide peace of mind that those using solutions and services built on the BlackStratus platform won't fall victim to a cyberattack."
