LOS ANGELES, Feb. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- BlackLine Systems CEO and Founder Therese Tucker has been invited to speak (for the third time) at the Harvard Business School 2014 Dynamic Women in Business Conference this Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Harvard Business School campus in Boston.
The annual conference, hosted by the Harvard Business School Women's Student Association, brings together more than 1,000 women – including students, alumnae, faculty, distinguished business leaders and community members – to explore the opportunities and challenges that women encounter in today's business world.
Drawing on her experience building BlackLine Systems from the ground up into the leading company in its space (and eventually to the point at which she attracted a strategic growth investment from Silver Lake Sumeru, the mid-market, technology-focused arm of leading global private equity firm Silver Lake), Tucker will participate on a panel entitled "Failure to Launch -- Why More Women Don't Start Businesses and Why They Should." The goal of the panel will be to discuss some of the unique barriers women face in starting their own businesses and how to overcome them.
Other panelists include the founders of the USA Network, Plum Alley, Clare V. and Her Campus Media. Harvard Business School professor Janet Kraus will moderate the session. Keynotes will be delivered by senior executives from Lululemon, Morgan Stanley and Quidsi/Amazon.
A recognized leader and inspiration for other entrepreneurs and young women looking to excel in business, Tucker also has spoken several times to a group of accounting and business students at New York University (NYU). In addition, Tucker is slated to participate on a panel at the upcoming Columbia University Women's Leadership Conference in New York in April.
Tucker's passion, persistence and effort have paid off with BlackLine ranking No. 15 on the 2012 list of the '50 Fastest' Women-Owned/Led Companies in North America, as reported in The Wall St. Journal. Tucker also was honored last year with a '2013 Enterprising Women of the Year Award' from Enterprising Women magazine.
In addition, BlackLine has made the Software 500 list of the world's "largest and best performing" software companies for the past three years and the prestigious Inc. 500/5000 for the past six years in a row, joining the ranks of such companies as Jamba Juice, Microsoft and Patagonia.
