BlackLine Systems CEO Invited to Speak at Columbia University Women's Leadership Conference
Financial software company founder Therese Tucker to discuss advancement of women in business alongside renowned feminist Gloria Steinem, chief executives from AOL Brand Group, Cinnabon Inc.
LOS ANGELES, April 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- BlackLine Systems CEO and Founder Therese Tucker has been invited to speak at the first-ever Columbia University Women's Leadership Conference (CWLC) this Saturday, April 5, in New York.
Hosted by the Columbia Daily Spectator, the inaugural conference focused on the success of women in the business world is expected to attract several hundred attendees. The conference theme is 'Breaking Free from Gender Roles: How Modern Women are Changing the World' and will focus on topics such as college's role in shaping women and women's careers in predominantly male fields.
Drawing on her experience building BlackLine Systems from the ground up into the leading company in its space (and eventually to the point at which she attracted a strategic growth investment from Silver Lake Sumeru, the mid-market, technology-focused arm of leading global private equity firm Silver Lake), Tucker will participate on a panel entitled "Breaking into Male-Dominated Fields."
Other CWLC speakers include best-selling author and outspoken spokesperson on women's issues and feminism Gloria Steinem, AOL Brand Group CEO Susan Lyne and Cinnabon Inc. President Kat Cole.
A recognized leader and inspiration for other entrepreneurs and young women looking to excel in business, Tucker has spoken several times at Harvard Business School's Dynamic Women in Business Conference, as well as to accounting and business students at New York University (NYU). In addition, Tucker is slated to participate on a panel at the upcoming McGraw-Hill Financial Women's Initiative for Networking and Success (WINS) Leadership Conference in New York in May.
