LOS ANGELES, June 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Therese Tucker, CEO and founder of financial software provider BlackLine Systems, was honored Monday night with a 2011 Stevie(R) American Business Award(SM) for Executive of the Year in the competitive Computer Software category.

The Stevies(R) are "the nation's premier business awards program, recognizing outstanding performance in the workplace." More than 2,800 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration.
Other companies with winning entries for the night included Amazon.com, Cisco, ESPN, Groupon, Salesforce.com and Webtrends.
The Stevie recognition reflects the accomplishments of Tucker in building the account reconciliation and financial close software provider into the leading company in its space.
In accepting the award on Tucker's behalf, Kimberly Uberti, director of corporate communications for BlackLine, said, "Therese truly is a remarkable woman having built BlackLine from the ground up. She was retired at the time. She didn't need to work; she chose to go back to work and start BlackLine based on the request/needs of a client – a true entrepreneur."
BlackLine revenues were up by more than 50 percent in both 2009 and 2010. The company also reported its strongest quarter on record in Q1, with its sales team closing half as many new deals in the first quarter of 2011 alone – traditionally the slowest time of year for software sales – as in the entire calendar year 2010. The 2009 growth follows three sequential previous years where the company's revenues doubled under Tucker's direction.
The Stevie Award achievement follows a number of other recent accolades for BlackLine. In October 2010, Accounting Today named Tucker to its "10 Worth Watching" list of "pioneers in the accounting profession." BlackLine also ranked 61st nationally and 3rd in Los Angeles on Deloitte's 2010 Technology Fast 500(TM). Earlier this year, BlackLine was named a Red Herring 100 Global Winner – recognizing the company as one of the "most innovative and promising" tech ventures in the world.
The San Fernando Valley Business Journal also recently honored Tucker as a "Woman of the Decade."
The Stevie awards were presented during ceremonies at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. The ceremonies were hosted by Cheryl Casone of Fox Business Network and broadcast nationwide on radio by the Business TalkRadio Network. More than 200 executives across the country participated in the judging process to determine the Finalists and Stevie Award Winners.
