Blackhawk Network Holdings, Inc. Announces New Board Members
PLEASANTON, Calif., Dec. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Blackhawk Network Holdings, Inc., a leading prepaid and payments network, announced today that Jane J. Thompson and Richard H. Bard have been elected to its board of directors effective October 6, 2014, when the board was expanded to ten members.

Mrs. Thompson, 63, has successfully led multi-billion dollar organizations in the financial services and ecommerce industries, among others. She has more than 30 years of leadership experience, serving at the executive committee levels of Walmart and Sears and leading strategic efforts for both corporations. She is a recognized innovator and thought leader in financial services, having previously been named American Banker magazine's Innovator of the Year in 2011 and one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Finance.
In addition, Mrs. Thompson was chosen in 2012 as one of 25 members of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau inaugural Consumer Advisory Board. She was selected chair of the Card, Payments and Mobile Committee and as a member of the Small Dollar Loan Committee. She is also a board member of the Center for Financial Service Innovation, the nation's foremost authority on consumer financial health, as well as an independent director for Verifone, Navient and The Fresh Market.
Mr. Bard, 66, is the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Bard Capital Group, LLC, a Denver-based operating and investment business. Since the mid-1970s, following an early career at Citigroup, he has been active in the acquisition and management of middle-market business enterprises, both private and publicly-traded. He is the chairman of Blastrac Global, Inc., chairman & CEO of Western Air Charter, Inc., and vice chairman of CIC Bancshares, Inc.
Mr. Bard has also served as chairman and deputy chairman of the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City from 2002 to 2006. He is a founding member of the Board of Visitors at Penn State's Smeal College of Business. He created the Bard Center for Entrepreneurship at the Business School of the University of Colorado at Denver. In 2001, Mr. Bard was a recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, which is recorded in the U.S. Congressional Record and awarded for encouraging cultural unity and engaging in humanitarian efforts that benefit the United States.
