Black Friday: Who Will Offer the Best Price Deals?
LONDON, Nov. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Another year goes by in the retail world and the long-awaited Black Friday returns. Undoubtedly this is one of the most important consumer days when millions of Americans look forward to making huge savings on their purchases. Minderest, using their retail price monitoring software, have produced for the first time an in-depth study of US prices in order to let you recognize which of the big online stores have the most competitive prices for one of the most prominent products around this time of year: Technology. Specifically, Laptops.
So, just days before Black Friday, on November 13th, Minderest analyzed a sample of 318 laptops sold in online stores around the USA. For the comparison we selected only items that are sold, simultaneously, in at least three of the sixteen.
For each of the products analyzed we looked at, and recorded, the lowest price published by any of these online stores. We calculated the percentage difference from this price and prices from each of the stores. Below are the percentages that reflect how expensive each retailer is when compared to the cheapest price:
1) Jumo Computer, 1.75%
2) B&H, 2.55%
3) Amazon, 3.12%
4) Walmart, 3.55%
5) Best Buy, 4.16%
6) Newegg, 4.40%
7) Jet, 4.49%
8) Adorama Camera, 4.83%
9) Provantage, 5.24%
10) Ebay, 5.69%
11) NextWarehouse, 6.03%
12) PCNation, 6.33%
13) NothingButSavings, 6.35%
14) Colamco, 6.98%
15) NeutronUSA, 9.15%
16) TigerDirect, 9.23%
Broadly speaking, we can immediately see that Amazon is not the cheapest retailer, at least in this product category, and that the maximum savings obtainable by comparing prices between these stores would be 9.25%, which is the average difference between the lowest and highest prices found for each product.
"This data," explains Gary Thomson, VP Sales at Minderest, "allows us visualize the importance of making price comparisons for like products between different online stores. This is because we can achieve savings which, sometimes, can be upwards of 25%." One of the most enlightening individual examples found during our comparative study, was a price difference of over 38% for the same item sold by both Colamco and Jet. While the latter had a price of $1579.99 for a Microsoft Surface Laptop (13.5", Core i7, 16GB, 512GB SSD in Gold), this very same Laptop cost $2189.79 in Colamco – a difference of over $600.
