Birmingham Cultural Alliance Partnership to Celebrate School Choice
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Jan. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Birmingham Cultural Alliance Partnership (BCAP) is hosting an event on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 3:30 p.m. to highlight the importance of school choice programs to residents of the greater Birmingham community. This event will include exciting performances and speeches by students who are succeeding in the BCAP afterschool program.
The event coincides with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"We like to dream big in Birmingham because we believe in our students. Through the BCAP afterschool program, we invest in our students by giving them the best opportunities to succeed in life," said BCAP Coordinator Kathryn Fluker.
Fluker continued, "In all reality, school choice is a defining civil rights issue for our generation. By giving parents the power to choose the best school and programs for their child, we can have a positive and powerful impact on Birmingham's future. At BCAP, we are seeing success by working with parents and changing lives one student at a time here at Green Acres Middle School."
The event is open to media and to the public.
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country.
