Bipartisan Policy Center's Governors' Council To Host Discussion on State Leadership During Crises

WASHINGTON, July 12, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) will host a breakfast discussion, On the Ground: State Leadership in Times of Crisis, with members of its Governors' Council on Thursday, July 14, 2011, in Washington, D.C.  In light of recent natural and man-made disasters across the country, the event will examine the challenges state governments face when managing a diverse set of disaster scenarios. The governors will highlight the importance of strong leadership and communication during times of crisis and debate the federal government's response to disaster preparedness.

The discussion will feature the following members of BPC's Governors' Council: Phil Bredesen (D-TN); Jim Douglas (R-VT); Linda Lingle (R-HI); Mike Rounds (R-SD); and Ted Strickland (D-OH). The discussion will be moderated by Kathleen Koch, a former CNN Correspondent and award winning author of Rising From Katrina.  Following the discussion, the governors will take questions from the audience.
